I also think it depends on where "home" is for you as well, your age, your status in life (meaning are settling down, partying, etc. I know for me, that once MA legalized marriage for all, the entire state felt like it was more open- even though nothing really changed in terms of stuffy/nasty Bostonian attitudes :) Was that me changing? Was that legal recognition forcing change? Was that society changing because of the legal recognition? Who knows?
